Tralee's building stock is genuinely mixed and it changes the spec job to job. Period and older terraced property near the town centre often has lath-and-plaster or soft lime-based walls that want breathable finishes and gentle preparation. The estates built from the 1970s onward carry decades of gloss on skirtings, doors and stair spindles, plus nicotine and water staining that will bleed through emulsion unless it is blocked first. High average humidity at the head of the bay, plus salt-laden air in Blennerville, Spa, Fenit and out toward Dingle, means slower drying, higher moisture readings and mould appearing first in north-facing bedrooms and bathrooms. We take readings before priming, specify moisture-tolerant and mould-resistant systems where the readings call for them, and run dehumidification between coats in winter rather than forcing a recoat that will not cure properly. Most of our work is in occupied homes and trading businesses, so the schedule is part of the quote. Domestic jobs are staged room by room with a usable kitchen and bedroom every night; offices around Denny Street and the town centre, salons, crèches, cafés and hotel and B&B rooms in Tralee and Killarney are usually done evenings, overnight or across a weekend. Landlords and agents get fixed handover dates, and painting can be bundled with an end of tenancy clean so a unit is listing-ready after one visit.
